For you history buffs, this is a great introduction for young learners! You will start out learning about the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Revolutionary War. Then you’ll move south to learn more about the Civil War and Underground Railroad. From there you’ll journey with Lewis & Clark through the mid-west, live with the Hopi in the southwest, then venture out into the wild west on a covered wagon ride!
So grab your Travel Logs, and pack your bags! It’s time for a Road Trip!
What’s Included in this curriculum?
There 363 pages of fun filled adventure just waiting for you! It’s divided up into regions, so students will learn about the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, then finally The Western region of the U.S.
Here’s a peek at the Teacher’s Manual. It includes everything you need for each lesson including any additional info, printables, and recipes for each state. There are 136 lessons total, you will cover 2 states per week and do several review lessons along the way.
Here’s a peek at the Student Workbook: It contains everything you need for each student in one easy printable section. The student workbook includes coloring pages for each state along with mini-books that you’ll use to complete either a U.S.A. lap book, or add to the binder dividers for each region.
Road Trip USA is a U.S. History and Geography Curriculum that covers all 50 states in the USA, including a bit on the territories as well. It is designed primarily for elementary level K-4th grade students.
It includes fun States Jeopardy review games as well as colorful student worksheets, and state reports for older students.

Can you tell me what size binder is best for each book and workbook?
Hi Jeanette, instructions are in the Road Trip USA curriculum, but I used 2″ binder for my TM and a 1.5″ – 2″ for the students.

Hi, Is the curriculum suitable for an 8th grader?
It’s probably a little too easy for an 8th grader, but there are extra reports/quizzes included that you can do to make it a bit more challenging if you like.
Hi Erica, I am doing Orton-Gillingham tutoring with a older student who is following this curriculum in a co-op. Having access to the vocabulary words of RoadTrip USA would be helpful in teaching spelling rules, syllable divisions, and dictation. What is the best way to have this? If I must purchase the curriculum, may I purchase only text and donate the curricular activities (leave them with you to give to whomever you choose, in other words)? I don’t need the whole shebang to do my job, as lovely as it all looks!

Unfortunately I don’t have just the vocab for sale, so yes, you’ll have to purchase the curriculum. It’s a PDF download, so there’s not really any activities to donate.
What’s next– after this curriculum is taught?
I usually move on to Homeschool in the Woods Time Travelers Units after Expedition Earth and Road Trip.
Just curious how non-secular this is? I really want to purchase it!
There really isn’t much religious content in the Road Trip Curriculum other than the history reading which talks about people leaving England to escape religious persecution, etc. So historical content does include religious information, where applicable.
This is my kids’ favorite subject this year. Thank you for creating it!

Was wondering how many lessons and total and how many lessons a week are scheduled?
Plan to use this with my first grader this upcoming year. My question is I know you have recommended readers for each section but I am wondering if living books could be used in place. I want to add beautiful picture books to our morning basket to be used to accompany this study.
