It’s a new year, and that means that it is time for a NEW Quilt-A-Long! Today, we are launching the 2025 Sew With Me series! Join me as I teach you how to make this adorable quilt out of your stash!
Throughout this series, I hope to teach you some new skills, tips, and tricks, and at the end of the series, we will have a fun selection of blocks to sew together into a sampler quilt! I have a special layout for this year’s sew-a-long, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
The blocks will release on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Each block will have a video tutorial and free PDF download. I will be adding the PDF downloads to this blog post as they are released, so make sure to come back here each month to get the new download!
In today’s video, we will be covering supplies as well as sewing the outer border, pieced backing, and sashing strips. I love getting the borders done first, it assures that I can cut my borders from the width of the fabric, and then I can use any leftover fabric for my quilt blocks as well. Plus, it’s nice to have it all done when we are ready to assemble our quilt!
This year we will be doing a special Bow Top Border and super cute pieced backing. If you don’t want to do the pieced backing, you can skip the Bow block and do your backing the normal way. But it’s really cute, and the perfect place to add a label to your quilt too!

Is this sew along a good place for a beginner to start? Also, do the fabric requirements only apply to what is being made in this first installment (bows, borders etc.)?
I can not get it to open for me
Nina I learned how to quilt from Erica. I have been following her for years now. She is a great teacher. I believe anyone could follow her and be able to do it. If you get stuck on something or it’s confusing just join the group on Facebook or just email Erica and someone will help you. The first quilt I ever did scared me to death but Erica and the group was always willing to jump in and help. Give it a try. It’s so much fun and you will surprise yourself.
This sew along is so organized and so beautifully presented. I must participate! Thank you. Jennifer
