Happy Thursday! Today we’re getting out our hooks and I’m showing you how to crochet a single-color granny square! This is a perfect project for beginners! These are cute on their own, but also perfect to go with the half-square triangles that we made last week. I also have a fun little project coming soon that will be perfect for these adorable crochet squares!
If you missed last week’s tutorial, make sure to check out the 2-tone Crochet Granny Square tutorial! We will be using 20 of the single-color squares and 24 of the two-tone squares to make a fun project, so stay tuned!
In this tutorial you will learn how to:
- Make a slip knot
- Chain
- Double Crochet
- Make an adorable granny square!

Hello Erica,
I am learning to crochet granny squares, your tutorial really helped me. Thank you!
Do you have a tutorial/pattern for a Christmas tree?
Thank you
Nicole
I have quilt and cross stitch Christmas trees, but I don’t have a crochet tree at this time 🙂
