Hi everyone! I have a fun new hat pattern to share with you today! The Peekaboo Beanie is super fun and a great way to practice those knits and purl stitches!
Supplies:
-
- 4mm/US6 16” circular needle
- 5mm/US8 16” circular needle
- Tapestry/yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
- 5mm/ US8 DPNs for finishing
- Optional: Faux Fur Pom
Yarn:
-
- MC: 1 skein DK weight yarn (100g)
- CC: 1 skein DK weight yarn (100g) (I used Yarn Ink Celebrate)
- Optional: McPorter Farms Faux Fur Pom
Sizing: Medium fits child/teen approx. 20-21 inches in circumference, Large fits adult approx. 22-24 inches in circumference.
Gauge: Ribbing approx. 16 stitches for 4 inches un-stretched.
I’m calling it the Peekaboo Beanie because I used a contrast color in the ribbing and it peeks out behind the main hat color in such a fun way!
I used a Frey Harbor from Blue Sky Fibers and it was just the right one to give this hat a nice soft subtle look.
For the contrast color I used Colorful Eclectic yarn in Celebrate. It was a fingering weight yarn, so I held it double and it worked great!
I also added this fun faux fur pom pom that I got from my local yarn shop. If you’re in the area check out Colorful Yarns Knit shop! They always have a huge variety of fun poms!
As always, I want to give a special shout out to my lovely model for braving the cold and wind just to get these pictures for you! We took these the day after a major blizzard, so there were snow drifts but she’s a trooper and didn’t complain once!
If you make this pattern, make sure to share it with #peekaboobeanie so I can see what you create!
