Hi everyone! Okay, so you asked for it, and I’m crazy enough to deliver! Today we’re going to share our daily activities in a vlog format. For those of you who don’t know what a vlog is, it’s basically a video log. So essentially what that means is that I’m going to take my little camera, and film our day to the best of my ability.

Today we have a normal school day, followed by hockey, swimming, and whatever else pops up over the course of our day.

So here we go!

If the video doesn’t play in your browser, click this link to see our daily routine!

I hope you enjoyed that, and like I said, it was my first vlog, but for the most part that’s how we roll! ;o)

After this week we’re on break which means a lot of fun holiday recipes, crafts, gift ideas, and more are heading your way! Yipee!

    1. Hi Jill,
I can’t say we’ve had a day where discipline totally took over. It’s usually just one child having a bad attitude or procrastinating. For those times, I will usually send that child to their room while we finish school. Then they get to do their schoolwork as homework in the afternoon/evening with my husband, while the other kids are out playing. Usually having to explain why they were making bad choices during school time to my husband is enough to deter bad attitudes in the future! Now I just have to let them know that they’re going to get sent out of class and they decide to improve their attitude right away.
We’ve also done the 3 strikes you’re out method, where I keep their names on the board. If they get three marks during school time for poor behavior then they’re grounded the rest of the night which means no playdates, sports, etc.
But honestly we only really had to do that stuff in the early years when we first started homeschooling and they were testing me to see what they could get away with I think. Now our day flows pretty smoothly because they know they are free to play whenever they finish their work for the day, so that motivates them to stay focused.

  1. It was good to “see” all of you. It’s weird that we know you to a certain extent and you have no idea who the heck we are!

When time permits, would you please post a review on Homeschool in the Woods? Curious how challenging you feel it is for 6th grade and if it is worth all the work you put into putting together the materials.

  2. Wonderful! Erica I also gave 4 kids (ages 2,5,6,9), and my question for you is…when does the housework get done?? Our oldest two do all their own laundry, and other really helpful chores, but I find the housework so overwhelming. What’s your take on that issue? Thanks!!

    1. Hi Lorelie,
I put in a load of laundry in the am, then shift it to the dryer mid-day. Then we take turns folding it and everyone puts their own clothes away. I do the same thing with the dishwasher as well. For main house cleaning, we usually do that on the weekends because during the week is just too busy for us.

  3. I love the vlog!!!! It’s so nice to see a day. You always show us pictures but video just makes it so much real. Everyone needs a pick me up sometimes and what’s better than Starbucks? I too love the basket idea for laundry. I need to implement that ASAP!
