Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a fun giveaway for you. It’s the Magnetic Elapsed Time Set by Learning Resources. This fun tool is an easy way to help students understand how time progresses.
I personally like the segmented timeline that comes with it to help the counting process. Sometimes the circular shape of the clock can be confusing I think, so it’s nice to have it in this format as well.
What are the details?
- The Magnetic Elapsed Time Set is $24.99
- The set includes 2 magnetic clocks with repositionable hands, and a 24-hour timeline with “start” and “end” labels, and removable guide numbers.
- The clocks are 10”
How do we use this?
I put them up on our magnetic white board as shown above and then set the clocks to different times. Next I have Tinker Bell position the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline strip. Together we count the time between the markers to see how much time has elapsed between the two clocks.
We also do this in reverse, I will set the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline, then Tinker Bell will place the hands in the correct position on the circular clock faces. Next we count the time going around the clock face and then the strip to verify.
What do we think?
I like this display, it really helps practice how to read a clock for younger kids, and also helps illustrate how we count the passing of time. It is fairly large as you can see, so you do need to make sure you have a space large enough to accommodate it. The full 24-strip will not fit on our little whiteboard, so I just place the ones we needed on it. You could also use this on a table instead of a magnetic board if you don’t have one. I also like how there are both the round clock faces as well as the segmented timeline to help show how time passes.

Wow! I’ve been homeschooling for years and this is by far the best method I’ve seen for learning to tell
time. I’m actually going through that right now with my 5 year old and it can be a difficult thing to grasp.
I’ve never seen the passing of time mapped out in quite this way before. I think it would help students
to ‘get it’ which would be wonderful!!! I would love to win this and the timing would be perfect!
This would be a great tool to help my visual learners tell time and see how much time has past.
Hmm I have I have three different grade so I am making a list. I need more manipulatives for Reading and Math for my older kids. I really like the Lowercase and uppercase stamp letters my younger kiddo would love to use those. The elapsed time set would be beneficial to my 1st grader , thanks for a chance to win!!
My daughter will be in kindergarten next year so this would be perfect for her. Thank you.
I would love to use one of these for my Kindergartener next year. Looks like a great learning manipulative.
I would love to win this because I really believe that this concept is easier to learn and to teach. My boys will love it! Also, I love the learning resources website! Lots of great stuff!
My son is learning to tell time, and this is a great method for teaching all about time!
Hi,
I just found your website yesterday. I am thankful I did. You have so much info. I would really like to win the clock set. We have a very fixed budget and can’t afford a lot. I know many homeschoolers are in the same situation since we usually have only 1 income. We are trying to figure out how we can improve our situation. (Prayers please!!!) I have a ds who is 6. He is behind with his learning. This would work well for him. I also have a dd who is going to be 2 this month. I would be able to use it for her in the future.
I’m slowly starting to teach my daughter to tell time and this would be awesome to use!
I’d love to learn this set because I have an 8 year old son who could really use a visual for helping him understand this concept better. I also have a 3 year old who is going to be starting pre-school soon, and so it would certainly be put to good use on our wall!
