Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a fun giveaway for you. It’s the Magnetic Elapsed Time Set by Learning Resources. This fun tool is an easy way to help students understand how time progresses.
I personally like the segmented timeline that comes with it to help the counting process. Sometimes the circular shape of the clock can be confusing I think, so it’s nice to have it in this format as well.
What are the details?
- The Magnetic Elapsed Time Set is $24.99
- The set includes 2 magnetic clocks with repositionable hands, and a 24-hour timeline with “start” and “end” labels, and removable guide numbers.
- The clocks are 10”
How do we use this?
I put them up on our magnetic white board as shown above and then set the clocks to different times. Next I have Tinker Bell position the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline strip. Together we count the time between the markers to see how much time has elapsed between the two clocks.
We also do this in reverse, I will set the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline, then Tinker Bell will place the hands in the correct position on the circular clock faces. Next we count the time going around the clock face and then the strip to verify.
What do we think?
I like this display, it really helps practice how to read a clock for younger kids, and also helps illustrate how we count the passing of time. It is fairly large as you can see, so you do need to make sure you have a space large enough to accommodate it. The full 24-strip will not fit on our little whiteboard, so I just place the ones we needed on it. You could also use this on a table instead of a magnetic board if you don’t have one. I also like how there are both the round clock faces as well as the segmented timeline to help show how time passes.

I have a 2nd grader that learns better with hands on learning ,this would be great 🙂
Thanks for the offer. I would like to win this because we are studying elapsed time and my two boys would appreciate the hands-on nature of this set.
Elapsed time, especially anything besides whole hours or anything crossing from am to pm, has really been hard to grasp for my dd, so I’d love to win!
This is so cute and Learning Resources is dangerous, I could spend hours looking at their products! My oldest wears his Toy Story watch but can’t tell time yet, this would be great to help him learn.
Both Learning Resource products I have are high quality, and highly engaging. I love their stuff. My three year old is currently fascinated with clocks and time. This would be a great resource.
My son is just starting to learn time and this would be a good resource for him.
I would love to win this for my son.
I would love to win this b/c it looks like such a great, fun resource! I bet my kids would love it : ) Thank you!
My daughter is struggling with telling time. I love the idea of the segmented time line. I think this help her better understand time.
Just started telling time with my son and he learns best with hands on activities
