Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a fun giveaway for you. It’s the Magnetic Elapsed Time Set by Learning Resources. This fun tool is an easy way to help students understand how time progresses.
I personally like the segmented timeline that comes with it to help the counting process. Sometimes the circular shape of the clock can be confusing I think, so it’s nice to have it in this format as well.
What are the details?
- The Magnetic Elapsed Time Set is $24.99
- The set includes 2 magnetic clocks with repositionable hands, and a 24-hour timeline with “start” and “end” labels, and removable guide numbers.
- The clocks are 10”
How do we use this?
I put them up on our magnetic white board as shown above and then set the clocks to different times. Next I have Tinker Bell position the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline strip. Together we count the time between the markers to see how much time has elapsed between the two clocks.
We also do this in reverse, I will set the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline, then Tinker Bell will place the hands in the correct position on the circular clock faces. Next we count the time going around the clock face and then the strip to verify.
What do we think?
I like this display, it really helps practice how to read a clock for younger kids, and also helps illustrate how we count the passing of time. It is fairly large as you can see, so you do need to make sure you have a space large enough to accommodate it. The full 24-strip will not fit on our little whiteboard, so I just place the ones we needed on it. You could also use this on a table instead of a magnetic board if you don’t have one. I also like how there are both the round clock faces as well as the segmented timeline to help show how time passes.

I would like to win this product to use when we start homeschooling our son. It looks like a wonderful product and has great reviews! 🙂 Thanks!
This would be so helpful for my little ones. Manipulatives make learning so much more for kinesthetic learners. I would be blessed to win this.
Who wouldn’t like to win something from Learning Resources? This looks exciting.
We are just starting to learn to tell time. This would be perfect!
I have been looking for a fun, concrete way to work on the concept of elapsed time and I REALLY think my kids would enjoy this set. I think it would help them understand it in a hands-on way! Thanks for the opportunity!!
I tried to leave my comment earlier, but my wireless disconnected! I have never been to their website, and I really like it! Lots of great stuff! I am working on time with my 1st grader, and this would be fabulous!
Elapsed time is such a hard concept for little learners. This set would be great for helping my 2nd grader grasp the concept of time.
I love learning resources products, as do my kids. I have a 5 year old learning to tell time now as well as a 3 year old and one on the way so we’d get plenty of use out of this time telling set. I do love how it comes with the number line so that it’s easier for kids to understand and count how many hours have passed!
I think I like the Pop for sight words at the Learning Resources.
This would be an awesome hands-on-way to reinforce elapsed time.
