Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a fun giveaway for you. It’s the Magnetic Elapsed Time Set by Learning Resources. This fun tool is an easy way to help students understand how time progresses.
I personally like the segmented timeline that comes with it to help the counting process. Sometimes the circular shape of the clock can be confusing I think, so it’s nice to have it in this format as well.
What are the details?
- The Magnetic Elapsed Time Set is $24.99
- The set includes 2 magnetic clocks with repositionable hands, and a 24-hour timeline with “start” and “end” labels, and removable guide numbers.
- The clocks are 10”
How do we use this?
I put them up on our magnetic white board as shown above and then set the clocks to different times. Next I have Tinker Bell position the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline strip. Together we count the time between the markers to see how much time has elapsed between the two clocks.
We also do this in reverse, I will set the “start” and “end” markers on the timeline, then Tinker Bell will place the hands in the correct position on the circular clock faces. Next we count the time going around the clock face and then the strip to verify.
What do we think?
I like this display, it really helps practice how to read a clock for younger kids, and also helps illustrate how we count the passing of time. It is fairly large as you can see, so you do need to make sure you have a space large enough to accommodate it. The full 24-strip will not fit on our little whiteboard, so I just place the ones we needed on it. You could also use this on a table instead of a magnetic board if you don’t have one. I also like how there are both the round clock faces as well as the segmented timeline to help show how time passes.

I would love to win this set for my 4 year old daughter. She doesn’t understand time yet and I think this set would really help her. I especially love the time line below the clocks. Great idea! Thank you for the resource too!
Learning Resources has wonderful educational items; can’t go wrong with any of their products. But on a more personal level–the clocks would be great for my kids as we are working on learning time and will soon be doing the elapsed time also. Great give away.
This looks fun, I love all learning resources stuff!
This is the best time learning tool that I have ever seen. It would be a great addition for our school. Thanks for sharing
This is something for my K and 2 nd grader who are working on telling time!
I would love this for my 2 kids who are learning time right now. I think it would be great for a variety of ages, not just a beginner! Thanks
We are just getting ready to start learning how to tell time. This would be great!
I would like this for my child who is currently learning about time.
My son has shown a lot of interest in learning to tell time, and this looks great.
We’ve just started the concept of time and this will be a great visual!
