I have a super fun preschool color matching game to review today! And you know I have a free one to give away to all of you as well! Itβs the Splash of Color Magnetic Sorting Set by Learning Resources.
This was one of those fun games that as soon as it arrived, I had to hide it to keep people from busting it open before the Teeny Tot even got a chance to play with it.
I put it in her workboxes and right off the bat she found it and pulled it out. I told her how to play quickly, and she immediately started working on it. Of course she matched the colors as seen below, but then we went through and said the name of all of the objects, and then counted how many pieces were in each colorful paint bucket.
She spread them out on our desk, but the pieces are indeed magnetic and can be used on any magnetic surface. One thing is that the pieces are kind of large, and our magnetic white board is only 2×3, so she couldnβt fit them all on there. Hence the deskβ¦
Here is a completed puzzle, so as you can see each one comes with five fun shaped pieces. And apparently itβs not just for the Teeny Tots of our world, but my older kids stood in line for a turn to play it as well!
Whatβs the cost? For $26.99 you get 8 colorful paint bucket frames (8βx10β), 40 colored magnets, and an activity guide.
What did we think?
My kiddos love the cute game pieces and itβs been pulled out several times since itβs arrival. I like that itβs so versatile. There are several ways you can use these here are a few ideas:
- Sort pieces by color
- Say the names of each item, have students say what letter or sound they hear at the beginning of the word.
- Using one color bucket and itβs matching pieces, let your student look at the pieces quickly, then have them close their eyes. Remove one of the pieces and have them open their eyes and tell you which one is missing.
- Close your eyes and let your student pick one piece. Have them describe it to you, and you guess what it is. Repeat with you describing the piece and the student guessing.
- Pick 4-5 same colored pieces and one different colored piece. Put a group of objects on the board and let your student tell which one is different. Have them explain why it is different.
- Sort objects by type such as food, toys, animals, etc.

What a fun way to sort and learn colors at the same time!
<3! I just started keeping a barely three year old and we are working on her 2-3's preschool year this fall. She is a doll, and I know she will think this is a ton of fun! π
This would be a wonderful addition to our intensive ed classroom. Children with autism love all of the componets included with this. You can contact me at atdomd@yahoo.com.
This would make a great addition to our intensive ed classroom. I work with children who have austim and they would love the componets of this set π
I would absolutely love to win this cute set. My Super Tot would absolutely LOVE it!! I made something similar (not nearly this fancy), but it is just plain paper in page protectors and is getting quite damaged from use. I love that this set is sturdy, and it is one of my favorite brands!
My 2 preschoolers would love this!!! Would give them something to do while homeschooling the older 2 kiddos!!!

My toddler could us these to identify the objects now and then use them to learn colors later. These look great. Thanks for the give away.
My 4 year old would love this game!
