We’re into our 4th month of school this year, and we’re still loving the WriteShop Primary! Although I’ve only been doing it a couple times a week, our kids are doing quite well. One thing that has really helped us with our writing, is our WriteShop Story Builders!writeshop_storybuilders2

They’ve been a HUGE help on days when they kids just can’t come up with an idea to write about. I printed them all off and put them in a little 3×5 recipe type box. I let them just grab in and pull out a card so it’s a surprise! If they really don’t like the card they pick, I let them grab another one, it’s really not a big deal, and they always find something fun to write about using the Story Builders!

What types of cards do they offer?

Now is a great time for the Christmas Mini-Builder cards, so if you’re kids are having a hard time thinking of things to write about, I encourage you to try the WriteShop Story Builders!

And if you haven’t tried WriteShop yet, take a look! It’s a fun way to get excited about writing! The techniques they use are really engaging and my children are actually excited about writing now instead of dreading it!

  1. My 9yo son has Asperger’s and writing is torture. Having hands on materials are the only way to get him on task and willing to share. The cards would open up his mind to new story ideas and creative words. We would love to win a set!

  3. Oh wow, these would be great to help my daughter start her stories. She is just starting to get interested in writing, after years of hating it, and I am always on the lookout for ways to provide a little extra encouragement.
