Welcome to the Letter L activity page! Hope you like it! It’s all about ladybugs this week:
Letter L Memory Verse:
- Look unto Me and be saved. Isa 45:22
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. Matt 22:37-38
- For our verses and accompanying games/stories we use the following books:
ABC Memory Verses & My ABC Bible Verses
Song time:
Hide ‘Em in Your Heart Vol 1
Hide ‘Em In Your Heart Songs – Vol 2
Read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and put our letter up on the alphabet tree. I found this super cute Palm Tree (link to Amazon) at a local teacher store, but you could easily make one with construction paper too!
Letter L Writing Practice: For your K4 kiddos, I made these fun handwriting worksheets, click here to download the A-Z Handwriting. I made 1-20 handwriting worksheets too!
Lady Bug Letter Match: These worksheets are meant to be used with the accompanying letter disks, Click here to see the process of making the letters. If you’re looking for more challenge, give this game to your kindergartner as a capital/lowercase matching game by using the uppercase card with the lowercase letter disks or visa versa!
Letter L Tracing: I laminate this and use with Expo Dry Erase Markers for pre-writing practice skills.
Letter Ll Do-A-Dot Page: We use Do-a-Dot Art Markers with this!
Large Floor Numbers:We spread these on the floor, then i call out a number and she hops to it. Or we’ll put them in random order and she’ll hop to them in order. You can also do a hopscotch pattern with them and have them say each number as they hop to it (this works in random order or numerical order).
**Note: To get all of the games in my Letter of the Week curriculum, please check out the full curriculum in my store!**
Ladybug Puzzle: Print and then cut the pieces apart for a fun puzzle activity!
Ladybug Shapes, cut these guys down the middle for a fun shape matching game!
Ladybug Craft: Cut out bug pieces and glue together on a sheet of construction paper. You can also use pipe cleaners for the antennae if you don’t want to cut out mine.
Ll Poke Page: I found this fun idea on Activity Mom. Instead of tracing, we are going to use a toothpick, or we have these cute Oversized Push Pins, to poke holes through the paper in the along the shape of the letter. Print on regular paper for easier poking, and do this one on carpet 🙂 Another idea from a nice reader was to use golf tees, not as sharp and easy for little fingers to grasp! Thanks!
Ladybug Cutting Practice: Simply print and let your child try cutting along the lines!
Ladybug pre-writing practice: I laminate these and use dry-erase markers. You can also print on plain copy paper and use for cutting practice!
Ladybug Capital/lowercase sorting: Simply cut apart the lady bugs, and have your student sort them on the game board!
Ladybug Size Sorting: I’ll have her put these little guys in order smallest to biggest, or visa versa.
Ladybug Pattern Activity: Print and have students finish the pattern based on the game board.
Ladybug Counting Puzzles: You can do a couple of things with this one, you could cut the lady bugs down the center and have them count the dots and match them to the correct number. You can also use them as clip cards and have them put the correct number of clothes pins, or paper clips on them as well. We put the correct number of glass beads on each ladybug.
Ladybug magnet page: I use it with pom-pom magnets, or these little round ones from Amazon: Power Magnets, 0.75 inch Diameter, Assorted Colors
Ladybug Lacing Card: I laminate this and punch holes every inch or so, then use a colored shoe lace to lace. Try showing your child different lacing patterns, like go up from the bottom each time, or in through the top, or in-out-in-out, etc. These are all good skills!
Ladybug Graphing: I laminate this and her her color in the correct amount of bars, or you could also put little beans, or cheerios etc. on the graph as well!
Ladybug Color Matching Puzzle: I cut these in half in random designs to make cute color matching puzzles out of them.
Ladybug Coloring: You can also use Do-a-Dot Art Markers with this!
Ladybug Building: This is a new game I made to practice building and patterning skills, use the attached ladybugs to copy the design!
Ladybug numbers practice: I laminate these and use dry-erase markers!
Letter L Scavenger Hunt: Fill your box with things that start with the letter L!
Lacing Ll letters. I used to give downloads per letter, but upon request, I made a file for the whole alphabet of lacing letters. You can download the A-Z Large Lacing Letters here!
We also read made a fun Llama craft to go with our “Is Your Mama a Llama?” book. I found a llama coloring page, cut it out, and glued it on a piece of construction paper then let her color it and glue on some ripped up cotton balls for the fur.
Letter Hunt: I created some Letter Hunt worksheets that you can download.
Foam Letter Builders: I cut the shapes from foam and let her use them to make the letters. You could also use my Magnetic Letter Builders as well!
Letter Collage Worksheets: The download includes letters A-Z as well as a collage idea sheet. We use the collage items as objects to decorate our letters for an alphabet book. We also color, paint, and stamp them. Since we use both upper and lowercase, I have provided both for you! Click here to download the Letter Collages:
More Crafts:
Family Fun Night: Have lasagna for dinner and watch The Little Mermaid!
