My son wanted to do a lapbook on crabs, and I found this one on Homeschool Share.
We read A House for Hermit Crab and then did a fun activity on the back of the lapbook called “Hermit Crab’s Year” It is a story sequencing game, so as I read my son put up the activities of Hermit Crab for each month.
Here is the inside of the lapbook, its a simple 1 file folder book that includes:
- Types Of Crabs (I just downloaded random ones from online)
- Types of Shells
- The Wise Man Built His House verse review
- Sea Creatures Flip Book
- Hermit Crab Coloring Page
- Our Address flip book
- Hermit Crab’s Year sequencing activity
Downloads for this lapbook are from Homeschool Share
We did that lapbook last year with my 3 oldest kiddos. It became one of their favorite books, but I think that is because they also got hermit crabs as pets, which they could then watch actually change shells. 🙂 The dear crabs have since passed away, and the kids still ask when we will get more. Maybe one of these days…p.s. I'm new to your blog, only been over here are few days. Thanks for a great place to visit!
Erica-Off subject-how big is your bulletin board that your calandar is on? Just curious 🙂 Wasn't sure if you'd see it if I posted the question on the calandar post.
Hi Amy,The cork-board my calendar is on is 23” high by 35” wide. It’s not too big. Then I just use regular thumb tacks to hold it up and they also are to hang our colored chain links on, so they serve dual purpose.
very cool!!
I found your blog today from a comment you left on another blog. I am planning on homeschooling my now one year old. I hope to learn a lot from you blog. (Oh I also added your button on my sidebar. I love it!)
We had fun using parts of that lapbook, too!
Love this! I am planning on doing this lapbook at our co-op this year!
Love those hermit crabs!
