I purchased some ‘make your own hot dots’ from Lakeshore Learning. You can print your own cards, these are phonics cards I made, you can download Short and Long Vowels cards, and Beginning Sounds Consonants cards. Word to the wise, print cards, laminate, THEN DOT THEM AFTERWARDS! The dots don’t work if they’ve been laminated!
I hope it's ok to ask you a technical, bloggy question! Ü I'm wondering how you added the "email follow-up comments to ____ email address" in your comments section? I'm on blogspot, too, but can't figure out how to add that feature to my comments section. THANKS so much!~Kelly
To put the email post link at the bottom of your posts:Go to your blogger "Settings" tab, then the "Basic" tab. Scroll down and where it says "Show email post links" change the dropdown box to "Yes". This will add a little email icon to the bottom of your posts so people can email the post to a friend. For the comments section, I didn't add the "Email follow up comments to" part on there, maybe it does it own its own if you have a gmail account?
Do you have any suggestions on keeping little fellas on task while working through the workboxes? Our little guy can breeze through certain boxes but when it comes to some of the more "academic" boxes he can stall and take up to an hour on one box. I am switching some things up and hoping that will help.Love what you do!Blessings
Hi Beth,Don’t laugh, but I use snacks as motivation, so if my little guy gets 5 boxes, then I put a snack in box 3, then in the last box I’ll put a fun game like a puzzle I know he likes or something. So motivation to get half way is snack, and motivation to finish is the fun game at the end. I usually put it in box 6 b/c 1-5 are core things, make sense? Also, we use fun stickers for good work completed, everyone likes to get stickers. Also if everyone works hard all week then Friday is family fun night, where we do our letter of the week food and movie.
Thank you so much for the downloads to extend the Hot Dot pen. I just bought one a couple days ago and was so excited to see a new way I can use it. Now off to get some Hot Dots!
I know I have asked this before but what laminator do you use? My birthday is coming up and I have been asking for a laminator. The problem is that I don't know what kind to get! Thanks!
Mindy, here's all the info on my laminator, scroll down to #6:http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2010/01/frequently-asked-questions.html
