Greetings readers! In our neck of the woods itโs officially back-to-school time! And for me that means I have about 5 minutes of free time a day. Which means I donโt have that much time to think about or plan meals for our family. And with 6 people in the clan eating out all of the time isnโt exactly budget friendly. Or healthy for that matter.
So, youโve probably guessed by the title, itโs time for my monthly meal plan! I canโt tell you how much sanity this plan saves me during school time. I tend to fall off of my meal plan band wagon over the summer just because weโre always doing different things. And Iโm a lot more flexible with my time. Which means I have time to cook, run to the store here and there, and so I make whatever sounds good.
But as soon as school & sports start back up I have zero time to be worrying about meals. So that means that I need something I can just hang in the kitchen that will tell me what to do each day. Kind of like my homeschool curriculum.
So here it is, my solution to the craziness of back-to-school!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I have always struggled with meal planning, which in turn causes problems with the budget. I have used your menu for the last TWO MONTHS!! It is great, my family knows to look on the fridge to see what we are having. I go grocery shopping for the whole week. And we don’t run out of food or money at the end of the month!!!! I know I should be able to do this myself, but gratefully, GRATEFULLY your menu has worked so well for our family. Thank you so much for sharing. I feel like I am finally getting a handle on our food! Next…asking people over for dinner. (Don’t suppose you have any tips on that?)
I noticed you don’t have a left overs night. Do you not have left overs from your meals??
Hi Missy,
I don’t really plan a left overs night, but we do have them. If we end up with enough leftovers for another night, then we’ll just do that and I’ll skip my planned meal. Some nights we end up eating out too, usually Friday, but just in case I have a meal idea for that night as well. Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it ๐
Hey Erica!
I’m SUPER appreciative of your time put into this!! I just have to ask one thing…how much do you find a week’s worth of groceries are for your family using this menu?? I went and purchased the first week on here and some of our necessities for the house (tp, paper towels, razors & dog food) and spent 3x our budget for a week! I am hoping it stretches to 2 weeks worth of groceries for us…or even 3 if we can swing it! We have 6 in our household, like you…so what tips can you pass along to keep the budget in the green but still eat like this ๐
Thanks!
Hey Erika! I just wanted to thank you for “keeping it real” with your monthly menus! It’s nice to see another mom who feeds her children chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and fish sticks. ๐
Life is crazy busy and you provide a very doable menu.
Thank you!!!
This Calendar is great and it will definitely help me out. You saved me a bunch of time having to think up ideas and make shopping lists. Thanks
