Hi everyone! I am excited to share a fun addition to my Road Trip USA United States Geography curriculum called
Road Trip USA: Animals of the United States!
As many of you know, we did a HUGE animal wall last year with our Expedition Earth World Geography curriculum, and this year as soon as we started going through our Road Trip USA curriculum, my kids were asking for animal cards! I thought it would be a fun addition since we had such a great time learning all of our world animals last year, so I put one together.
As you go through each state, you’ll discuss the state animal symbols, classify them based on their species then add them to your animal wall. We set up our wall the same as last year basically. (See below)
The animal cards are colorful 3”x3” cards that have the name of each animal on the front, and they come as a FREE ADDITION to my Road Trip USA curriculum
Since many states claim the same animals as their symbols, I grouped them by region. The animals are listed in alphabetical order in the region in which they first appear in my Road Trip USA curriculum. There are not duplicates of animals that are claimed by more than one state, you’ll just refer to them on the animal wall if they’re repeated.
There aren’t any lesson plans with this download, just the animal cards by region. The animal cards are referred to in my Road Trip USA Curriculum so you’ll know when to add them to the wall each week.
Hope you enjoying learning about the Road Trip USA: Animals of the United States!
We are so excited to start our tour of USA! Could you tell me the dimension of your Animal Wall? I am having a hard time figuring out how big to make ours.
Thank you so much for all you do. Our families school year has been greatly blessed by your curriculum as well as your ideas.
God Bless,
Kreps Family
Mine is about 3′ wide by 5′ high. I’m not done adding animals to it, so hopefully they’ll all fit on that! I just did it the same size as the expedition earth one, though I think there are fewer animals in Road Trip USA. We’ll see!
Is this missing an “insect” category?
No, I grouped spiders and insects together in a section called “Arthropods”
I saw on your blog that you use Abeka as well as other books. Do you buy the entire kit and then add things like the Road Trip USA, etc? I am currently using Abeka, but I am trying to get an idea of what I would like to do next year. Either getting some things from there or getting the entire kit and then adding.
Thanks for all your help!
When the desert iguana matures, its growth ranges from ten up
to sixteen inches long. Kale, cabbage, broccoli,
cauliflower, and brussel sprouts are some of the most common foods that contain goitrogens.
They’re also far too small even for a juvenile iguana.
