Welcome to What’s in the Box Wednesday, today I’m doing it a bit differently and instead of showing all the boxes for a certain grade, I’m showing what was in our “Fun Box” that everyone received!
A nice reader led me to these super fun Orb Factory Magnetic Mosaics! I like that they are re-usable. We’ve done the Sticky Mosaics, which are also fun, but once they’re done, well, they’re done. And let’s face it, they’re not cheap, so this is a great alternative!
The only downfall is that the box came with enough to create 1 picture at a time, and with 2 kids trying to work simultaneously, well, you can see that there may have been a small issue.
The other thing is that the sheets are VERY thin, so you have to be careful not to rip them. I am going to try and laminate them, but the magnets aren’t super strong, so I’m a little worried about whether they’ll still work. We’ll see…
That said, we really did love these, and they still get pulled out frequently!
I bought mine at a local Michael’s store with a coupon of course!
Those look dreamy for occupying one kid while schooling another with 1:1 attention. Very neat.
Woah! That looks like SO much fun. I want to play! 🙂
I buy the sticky mosaics as gifts all the time, but I think that I will be switching over to the magnetic. Makes more sense to be able to reuse. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for another great suggestion! I think at least half the things on my amazon wishlist come from your suggestions 🙂
This is absolutely going on my wish list! These look like so much fun! Thanks!
These are a lot of fun. One of my daughters received one of these mosaic kits for Christmas and she creates things with it all the time.
I recently found your blog and just wanted to say that as a new to homeschooling mom I find it inspirational (and SO informative). And on the mosaic front, my 4 year old dd did her first sticky mosaic on Monday. When I bought it I saw the magnetic one too and wondered about it. Sounds like it is going on my wish list :).
Thanks for this great idea. I too like the reusable magnetic idea. One thing I thought that you may want to do if laminating makes it too difficult for the magnets to stick is to scan or copy the pages so that when a page becomes too worn out you can bring out the copy.
You can download extra sheets on the companys web site also!
