Hi everyone! I’m back with a new video in my beginner friendly How to Knit series! Today I’ll be showing you how to do the KNIT STITCH. Today we’ll be focusing on the English style version of this stitch which is fairly common. And in the next video I’ll show you how to do the same stitch using Continental Style. Both ways are very beginner friendly and work well for almost any project!
Keep in mind there are a variety of ways to do the knit stitch, this is how I learned when I first started, so hopefully it will help you out as well!

Thanks for joining me today and happy knitting!
Thanks for the tutorial. Most people don’t know that there are 2 different styles of knitting. Your pictures are so pretty too!
There are actually many styles of knitting. Not just 2. Look up Portuguese Knitting. They use a pin attached to their top to hold the yarn or they loop it around their neck. I’m curious how Erica does continental, since I do Eastern (Old) Continental like my grandmother and her family did in Eastern Europe. My yarn does not moves to the front for purl stitches.
Yes, there are many ways to do each technique 🙂 Portuguese knitting looks really difficult so I haven’t mastered that one! I have a continental video coming soon 🙂
Great example of Portuguese Knitting Style. As you will see the yarn is kept in front at all times not behind, help with tension and is very good for those with arthritis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j-1j8Z16OM
