Hello! Today I’m sharing Tinker Bell’s 3rd grade homeschool schedule with you. Tinker Bell turned 9 in February and is doing great this year.
Here is a sample of her schedule. She often works through her assignments faster than what I scheduled. But I don’t want to over-fill her day, so I still spread it out like this so that she has plenty of time.

Here is our basic 3rd Grade Schedule:
- 8:30am – Breakfast / Family Devotions
- 9:00am – Daily Learning Notebook
- 9:15am – Bible
- 9:30am – Math
- 10:30am – English
- 11:00am – Handwriting
- 11:20am – Reading
- 11:30am – Spelling
- 11:45am – Vocabulary
- 12:00 – Lunch/PE
- 1:00pm – History / Science
- 1:30pm – Typing/Music/Art/Piano (1x per week)
- 2:00pm – Writing / Literature (2x per week)
- 4:00pm – Swimming & Inline Hockey…Yes, she plays hockey and she’s great at it! Mama was a little nervous, but this girl can hold her own!
Here are our curriculum choices for 3rd grade this year.
- Daily Learning Notebook: She’ll be doing the Cursive Notebook this year.
- Art: World’s Greatest Artists 2 and See the Light Art DVDs
- Bible: Picture Smart Bible & Grapevine Studies
- Spelling: All About Spelling Levels 2 & 3
- Phonics: Abeka Language 3
- Reading: Abeka Reading 3 & Read & Think Skill Sheets 3
- Math: Math U See Gamma
- Handwriting: BJU Handwriting 3
- History: The Middle Ages – Time Traveler Unit & my Colorado State Study
- Literature: Classical Literature Units
- Science: Abeka Science 5 (We do this as a group) & one of my scientist units if we can fit it in!
- P.E.: Family Time Fitness
- Typing: Typing Instructor Platinum (CD Version)
- Vocabulary: Vocabulary Workshop
- Writing: IEW Student Writing Intensive Level A
- Robotics: LEGO Education We’re continuing with our co-op group and the Simple Mechanisms set this year.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
- Keepers of the Faith

I feel like I struggle everday with how to organize things for school.
I wonder if you could help me with something.
I am not sure how to break down the ELA. I see you have English, reading writing spelli g and vocabulary seperate. I dont k ow how to do this breakdown. We use Rod & Staff. And it feels to me.like its all mingled.
I also have a pre-k (4 turning 5 in Jan) and a 2yr old along woth our 8 (turning 9 in march)
They are all on such different levels. Any advice?
I’m not sure if Rod and Staff intermix their English and vocab, but they do have a separate spelling curriculum though if I remember correctly.

I don’t know where and where to begin. I was watching you’re curriculum and plan I was wondering how are your children get graded. Thank you.
Hi Lyn, there are several online options and I can’t say which will be best for your son. But I can give you a few to research. Switched on Schoolhouse, BJU Press and Abeka are some of the more popular ones.

Hi! I’ve really enjoyed looking through your website! I’m wondering if you have any advice regarding Grapevine Studies. I have twin boy/girl 9 year olds…were in 3rd grade before the quarantining began, as well as a 3.5 year old that was in his first year of Preschool before the quarantining began. I’ve looked at the Grapevine Studies website and spoke to a representative and am still stuck on what specific resources I should order to begin this journey. I was thinking since you have experience with the curriculum you would have some advice. First, did you find it helpful to just purchase the books? Or did you get the online resource and just print stuff as you went along? Also, given the age difference and that it’s toward the end of the school year, I was wondering if you had any recommendations on which curriculum to get. For example, do you think my 3 year old would be able to work with the traceable version of grade levels 1-3? Or should I get both the prek-k and the 4-6th grade level books since my older 2 will probably be ready for the older elementary version soon.? Thank you!!!
Hi Erin,
We used their family units, they came with the teacher’s manual and student workbooks. That was all we needed for our daily lessons and they’re very easy to teach.
